Diagnostic Imaging

Impexxus Medical Imaging Inc.

At Impexxus Imaging we understand that diagnostic imaging is vital to patient care. Our top priority is ensuring each patient's experience is safe and informed. We pride ourselves in knowing that Impexxus is a centre where patients have the very best in care and diagnosis.

The following services are offerred at our Glazier Centre location.

General xray

An x-ray is a form of electromagnetic radiation that is projected to produce two-dimensional images on specialized film. By photographing the inside of your body using Roentgen rays, this procedure facilitates the detection of medical conditions in the head, spine, chest, abdomen and bones. In addition to observing fractures and other injuries, x-rays can even be used to identify pneumonia and some forms of cancer.

Bone Mineral Density

Bone mineral densitometry (BMD) is a simple and painless procedure used to detect osteoporosis. It allows your physician to assess the strength (or density) of your bones, to estimate your risk of fracture and to determine your response to treatment. BMD uses a very low dose of radiation to identify and assess the strength of your bones. The procedure takes 20 to 30 minutes in its entirety and no special preparations are required

Ultrasound, general, pregnancy, thyroid, breast etc.

Ultrasound imaging, also called ultrasound scanning or sonography, involves exposing part of the body to high-frequency sound waves to produce pictures of the inside of the body. Ultrasound exams do not use ionizing radiation (as used in x-rays). Because ultrasound images are captured in real-time, they can show the structure and movement of the body's internal organs, as well as blood flowing through blood vessels. Ultrasound imaging is a non-invasive medical test that helps physicians diagnose and treat medical conditions.

Ultrasound images of the musculoskeletal system provide pictures of muscles, tendons, ligaments, joints and soft tissue throughout the body.

Cardiac and Vascular

Echocardiography or echo, is a painless test that uses sound waves to create moving pictures of your heart. The pictures show the size and shape of your heart. They also show how well your heart's chambers and valves are working.  Echo also can pinpoint areas of heart muscle that aren't contracting well because of poor blood flow or injury from a previous heart attack.   A type of echo called Doppler ultrasound shows how well blood flows through your heart's chambers and valves.  Echo can detect possible blood clots inside the heart, fluid buildup in the pericardium (the sac around the heart), and problems with the aorta. The aorta is the main artery that carries oxygen-rich blood from your heart to your body.

All services require a referral from your physician.  Appointments are requried, however walk-ins will be accomodated if time slots are available.  Please bring your health card to every visit.
